Sobre esta atividade
Step into the pages of history and discover the stories of Old Shanghai! Meet your private guide at a central location for your 2-hour walking tour of the old walled city called Nan Shi, or Old Town. At its center are the Yuyuan Garden, dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD).
Follow your guide through the exquisite imperial gardens — renowned for the classical landscape architecture — before walking to Chenghuangmiao, translated as Temple of the Town God. Here, you’ll learn about local tradition and the different gods of Chinese Taoist beliefs. Dating back to 1403, the temple's main courtyard is still active with worshippers and a central shrine offers solace from the bustle of the city.
Finally, wander through Old Town’s lilong neighborhoods, where Western-style row houses and old Chinese courtyard homes line the narrow alleyways. These lanes, where laundry hangs from bamboo poles and neighbors share gossip, are rapidly disappearing along with an essential piece of Shanghai’s history. You’ll get a sense of traditional Chinese architecture and lifestyle as you meander past and view the first grand family's compound.
At the end of your tour, learn about different types of local dumplings, with the opportunity to purchase some for a taste of delicious Chinese food.

Highly recommended. My tour guide Mary provided a fun and interactive tour giving me information about the history of the gardens that you wouldn't get just walking around. Mary was very friendly and excellent guide.
Diferent and magic experience.Very Nice!!
Our tour guide Mary was great! She gave us a wonderful tour, was forthcoming with great details about the history and what we were seeing, and also had a great time posing for pictures with our travel companion, sock puppet. A tour definitely worth the cost!
This tour was really fun. We met at the meeting point and walked around the old town, including Yuyuan garden, Susie our guide was excellent. She was very relaxed and made the tour feel like we were walking around with a friend. She showed us many interesting places. We asked her about buying a Marjong set in Shanghai, so at the end she took us to a market and helped us purchase two for our sons at a really good price. We really enjoyed our morning with Susie.
