An outstanding experience. Off the beaten path. Up close and personal with nature and wild life. The canoe boat ride was definitely unique! Overall you need to have done reasonable level of fitness, stamina, balance. I would use this tour operator again!

Jarod and John were terrific hosts! Friendly, approachable and highly knowledgeable. We started on a boat on the Panama Canal, going by the ocean freighters headed to the Atlantic. The next several boat stops were to the monkey islands where we hand-fed capuchin and tamarind monkeys. They come right onto the boat and take large grapes right from your hand! Very cool! John told us the history of the canal and how the monkeys became stranded when the area was flooded and Gatun Lake was formed. From that perspective, the idea of those monkeys being dependent on human feeding is understandable - and good for them. Next we took a long ride to the Chagres River to meet the Embera Tribe, who took us to their village. They explained their way of life, danced for us, and fed us fried plantains and fish wrapped in banana leaves. We toured the village and shopped their handmade crafts. Last, a boat ride in the dugout canoe to an isolated spot on the Chagres River to relax a bit and enjoy the running water and jungle scenery. No one else on the river but us and the Canal inspectors continually watching the water levels 40 of the Canal water comes from this river. A long hot day, but THE highlight of our trip!
