First we had delayed departure for half an hour. Hit some traffic. At Leeds Castles were in line to get in for almost an hour with only 15-20 minutes to see the inside and ran back to bus. We only saw the cliff of Dover for 10 minutes from afar at the port of Dover beach. Didn't get any photo stop at Dover Castle, wasted more time at shopping area near Canterbury church. Stand at lawn in Greenwich to see sights from a far distance, didn't get in buildings. Took the Clipper boat and we were on our own far from were we boarded the bus that morning! Oh the mike had malfunction most of the time. So we had just squeak and squawk about the history of whatever... the guide seems oblivious and was talking to himself!!
This was a very enjoyable day trip loved the views along the way, Leeds Castle and grounds were beautiful. Canterbury Cathedral is magnificent, only shame was the amount of renovations/maintenance taking place
Overall this was a very nice all day tour. The Guide was not very enthusiastic. He didn't stop to let us take pictures of the time ball in Greenwich that they are famous for. Instead we wasted time waiting for him to get water bus tickets. The water bus was a disappointment. Should have gotten a tour boat instead. We had adequate time at Leeds Castle, Canterbury Cathedral, and Dover.
While the attractions were generally interesting and beautiful this tour with Golden Tours was very bad. First, we felt like our tour guide (won't mention specific names, elderly German woman) got most of her information wrong on the tour (confirmed by several people on the tour), was abrupt and abrasive and simply wasn't fun to be around. Of the dozens of tours I have taken in my life this is the first one I refused to leave a tip for the guide. It says the tour comes with lunch but my family felt like the lunch was tiny and really wasn't good at all. Leeds Castle and Canterbury Cathedral were more than charming. The cliffs of Dover should be removed from the tour as we only got 10 minutes off the bus to see the cliffs from many miles away and the view was looking through roads, highways and bridges. Not a great photo opportunity to say the least. This was our first experience with Golden Tours and will look closely at reviews of this company before considering future tours with them.
My 12 hours was amazing. Leeds Castle was amazing, with beauty all over. Whit Cliffs of Dover also beautiful. Canterbury Cathedral was amazing with its stained glass, and architecture. Greenwich naval College was quite interesting.
One of the unforgettable tours. Our guide, who came from the academe (school principal), was brilliant and vibrant. Our early arrival at Leeds allowed us to visit the Maze. We liked the small tour group arrangement as it was comfortable. Best remembered is how genuinely knowledgeable our guide was, who gave us fantastic insights especially at Canterbury. He also took good care of us until we got off from the boat ride from Greenwich. 5 stars to my tour guide.
Because f the protest going on in London during our stay we missed our tour 2 days in a row !!! I cannot understand how the tour could have left on time, with all the streets blocked due to the riots going on!!!! We lef=t our hotel 2 hours early!! yest we were 30 min late for the tour. Normally it would have only taken 15 min to go from our hotel to the tour departure.
Leeds castle was quite charming. It was easy to navigate through the castle rooms and grounds. The dog collar museum on the castle grounds should not be missed! Canterbury Cathedral map and history was explained by our tour guide Sandra before entering the cathedral. It would have been helpful if a cathedral guide had met us inside to answer questions and point out historical and physical details of the cathedral. It is quite large and there is much to explore and view. Chis our bus driver was familiar with roads that brought us closer to viewing Dover Castle and the Cliffs. The boat ride on the Thames was sn unforgettable way to end our day. Lots of photo ops especially on the back of the boat.
I really enjoy this tour, one of the best tours for me and I really use that type of service whilst traveling. The guide tour was amazing, really knowledgeable and fun. Thanks!
If the bus is full, some guests have to sit in the back row. On this trip there were five of us jammed together. The backs don't tilt back, but the ones in front do. making for a very uncomfortable ride. I would not recommend booking with this company.
Although we were in a rather crowded bus, we enjoyed this a lot. It seemed very relaxing and our guide, Dolly, kept us moving without feeling rushed. We did find it a bit disconcerting to try eating a box lunch on the bus with no tray. It was quite a balancing act.
our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the day was well planned. Unfortunately we were left in cantebury for a much longer time due to something that happened to the coach and we had to wait for the coach driver for quite a log time. However, we managed to get a later boat to take us along the river back to London.
