Day trip from Fez to Chefchaouen

Our one day excursion to the fascinating city of Chefchaouen starts at 08:00 am. We will pick you up from your accommodation in Fes in order to start our journey to the blue city through the splendid and mesmerising landscapes of the Middle Atlas Mountains. Chefchaouen is a small town situated in the Rif mountains, just inlanded from Tangier and Tetouan. It was founded in 1471 as a fortress that still exists to this day. It is home to about 40000 people. It is considered a popular touristic destination for both Moroccans and foreigners because of it's beautifully decorated and blue painted buildings along with the charming scenery of the surrounding mountains. It is very rich with water and minerals that created a network of caves in the surrounding mountains. The name refers to the shape of the mountain tops above the town, that look like the two horns (chaoua) of a goat. "Chef Chaouen" derives from the Berber word for horns, Ichawen. One distinction possessed by Chefchaouen is its blue-rinsed houses and buildings. Chefchaouen is a beautiful blue door and white -walled medina that was orginally a Berber post. The city's narrow streets are lined with handicrafts shops that sell traditional clothes and decorations special and unique to that part of Morocco. It's also famous for its top quality goat cheese that's due to the mountainous terrains being the perfect natural habitats for goats. Once you arrive in this town, you will have free time to visit the medina and hike to the famous water source "Rass El Ma" which is a beautiful place from which you can enjoy a stunning view of the city. After that you've had lunch in some local restaurant, you shall meet our driver at 17:00 to take road back to Fes in which we will drop you off at your accommodation marking the end of this amazing excursion.
