Você encontrará seu pequeno grupo no centro de Edimburgo e viajará em um confortável mini-ônibus ao longo da Dere Street, uma estrada romana que ligava portos no sul da Inglaterra a assentamentos romanos no centro da Escócia. Depois de um passeio de uma hora, você chegará ao primeiro destino, a cidade histórica de Jedburgh, onde andará por ruas estreitas, passando pela Abadia Jedburgh do século 12, uma abadia agostiniana.

Em seguida, você irá para Carter Bar, o ponto de cruzamento entre a Escócia e a Inglaterra. Tire fotos na fronteira e continue pela magnífica paisagem do parque Nacional de Northumberland para Steel Rigg, onde você pode ver grandes seções da Muralha de Adriano. Construída no 2º século DC durante o reinado do Imperador Adriano, a muralha é o maior monumento da Britânia e é agora considerado um Patrimônio da Humanidade pela UNESCO. Depois do almoço, irá até Birdoswald, que é um dos fortes mais bem preservados do século 16 que foram construídos ao longo da Muralha de Adriano e o maior trecho contínuo restante da muralha. Você explorará os extensos restos enquanto o guia explica as características das fortificações romanas antigas, incluindo algumas escavações recentes.

Depois de apreciar as vistas de Birdoswald, subirá novamente a bordo do mini-ônibus e começará a viagem de volta a Edimburgo, com uma parada na cidade spa vitoriana de Moffat, antes de atravessar as terras altas do sul e as fronteiras escocesas para voltar para Edimburgo.

The knowledge of the tour guide was impressive to say the least. One thing not appreciated is the stated opinion, by the tour guide, regarding American politics. In this case the opinion was visceral dislike to hatred when it came to the office of the president. That office is to be respected, period. Then there is the fact that the current President was elected by a significant margin. Lastly one needs to ask why this President was elected. This President was elected because the Congress has done NOTHING to address the major issues over the last decades, leaving the public, the voter, in a position to voice their dismay. That was clearly what occurred. Study the "why" and you will see the result, gross incompetence by the Congress, which elected a non-politician. semper Fi.

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour. Robbie was a great host. He was also very sweet and accommodating, he helped me access the stops by pulling closer without even being asked which was very ( I have some mobility issues due to an injury ) The tour was fun and informative and full of nice little surprises.. We loved that Robbie had music picked out for us as well. Over all it was a great value and we will look at other tours from Rabbies our next trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on this trip. Jan was a fantastic guide! He regaled us with Scottish stories and lore during the ride. The ruins of the wall was set amid pastures and farmland and was breath taking! We stopped at charming villages along the way. Before we took off he warned us that if anyone did not appreciate history and ancient ruins, then you probably wouldnt enjoy this. We do love history and ruins and enjoyed every minute!!!

Great educational and entertaining tour of the area south of Edinburgh and the north of England. Richard gave us a great overview of the history of the border areas between Scotland and England, the reivers and how that shaped the character of the people. Jedburgh Abbey was fascinating to visit, and we loved seeing Hadrian's wall and Vindolanda with its archeological treasures. Seeing the countryside and hearing the history and culture at the same time is such a great way to see the countryside.

Walking along Hadrian's Wall and seeing an ancient Roman fort ruin is chance of a lifetime. Other sites worth visiting as well. Great tour.

I could not praise our tour guide Sean more! Sean was a history teaching before switching to tours and let me tell you that made ALL the difference on this tour with Rabbie's. You could tell how much Sean loved Scottish and English history. He knew so much about the time period the wall was build and clearly wanted to share that love with us on his tour. The Mercedes van was really comfy and we had a smaller group. Be prepared to hike around in possibly mud. It was winter for us so we brought lots of layers too as it was quite chilly outside. This was a fun day trip out from Edinburgh. We loved seeing the wall and learning about this time period in Scotland's history. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone interested in seeing the wall.
