Sobre esta atividade
An awesome, meeting awaits you with your Cabo Expeditions tour guide. As the whale-sized fish glides slowly through the water in search of plankton, you’ll be at their side. Swimming gently and slowly near the surface, these docile creatures allow you to approach them without risk.
Learn even more about whale sharks after seeing them up close! You’ll close out the day’s adventure with a visit to the Whale Museum in La Paz — Museo De La Ballena — where you can view the largest osteological collection of whales, dolphins, and more in Latin America (and top 10 in the world)! You’ll also get to check out the small, beautiful city of Todos Santos, known for its excellent surfing and quaint streets with wonderful, unique shops.
The whale sharks of La Paz, Mexico attract researchers, as well as snorkelers. Take a good photo of a whale shark, and send it to the Wildbook for Whale Sharks, an international scientific database!

This was a waste of time and money. Our original encounter was scheduled for Dec 27th, but was cancelled due to windy weather conditions. It was re-scheduled for Friday, Dec 30th. It was still windy and we called to confirm that the encounter was still on and were told that La Paz was two hours away from our hotel and that the weather there was fine. The van picked us up at 6:55 am and it took 3 hours not 2 to get to La Paz. We were put on a boat with 9 other people and told that only 5 people could join the tour guide in the water at a time. The tour guide also stated that she was surprised that the encounter was not cancelled because the weather was not good for the whale watching encounter but that we would go out anyway. We spent about 20 minutes before we saw the first whale shark fin. It was decided that a family of 5 would go first leaving my wife, myself and a father and son in the boat to watch. Three of the family members got about a 5 second view of the whale shark before it disappeared. They were in the water about 5 minutes and told to get back in the boat. We spent about another 1/2 hour trying to find another whale shark without any luck before a young boy with the family of 5 got sick and fainted. The encounter was terminated immediately, as it should have been, and the boy was rushed back to shore and a doctor. We saw only one whale shark fin and never got in the water for an encounter. It was after 6 pm when we got back to our hotel, which meant were gone over 11 hours. The trip should have been cancelled for weather. The number of people allowed in a boat should be the same number that can be in the water at any one time, i.e. 5. You shouldn't have to wait in the boat for a turn to have an encounter. The only good thing was that the little boy who fainted was cleared by the doctor and allowed to return to his hotel with his family.
