Sobre esta atividade
During the tour you are going to see a huge variety of sights in a relatively small part of Pest. The Jewish Quarter of the seventh district is quite compact, that's why walking is the best way of exploring it.

Whichever direction we choose to start our walk in the quarter, we are going to see a lot from the second largest non-Orthodox synagogue in the world to the smallest prayer houses, attractive residential buildings and memorial places of the area: astonishing, all with their own stories. Some of the gems of our itinerary you might already be familiar with but by taking part in the tour you will have the chance to build a new perspective towards them: the synagogues of the so-called synagogue triangle of Budapest such as the Kazinczy, the Rumbach and the Dohány Street Synagogue, the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Garden with the touching Emmanuel tree, the Budapest Jewish Museum and the exhibitions of the Jewish Archives, The Vasvári Street Synagogue, the Carl Lutz Memorial, the stumbling stones of the quarter’s streets, the last remaining part of the WWII ghetto wall or the iconic Shoes Monument on the riverbank of the Danube.

I will also bring you to places mostly visited and used by the locals. You can peep into their everyday lives: courtyards just like the Gozsdu Courtyard, little shops, eateries, confectioneries, the mikveh in Kazinczy Street, art galleries, festival scenes, old and newly opened cafés, the unique ruin bars including the iconic Szimpla will all make you get closer to an insider's look. Just let yourself emerge in the atmosphere! Our itinerary can be highly flexible. If you have deeper interest in something and want to spent more time in a place or you would skip another, no problem. The aim is to give you a good overall picture with lots of stories rather than facts: Always trying to organise the tour as informative, integrating and fun as it is possible.

We absolutely loved our Jewish Quarter walking tour with our guide, Timea Tarjani. She was completely informed and knowledgeable, very amicable and friendly, willing to guide us to places that we requested to see, and a complete pleasure to get to know. She spent nearly the entire day with us and never made us feel rushed in any way. We also had the great pleasure to meet her husband and children - quite by coincidence. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. We highly recommend Timea!

Time Tarjani was a superb guide-enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate. She pointed out the interesting sights we were walking through on our way to the Jewish neighborhoods. Her knowledge of Jewish and Hungarian history was impressive. She included some interesting sights not usually visited by other Jewish tours like the remaining wall of the Jewish ghetto. I enjoyed the tour very much, Timea is very afable and friendly. I highly recommend her.

My wife and I went on the walking tour with Timea Tarjani earlier this summer. Timea was extremely knowledgeable about the Jewish Quarter and events in the Jewish ghetto during World War II, as well as her general experience growing up under communist rule in Budapest. Her English is perfect and her stories are fascinating and sometimes heartwrenching. Timea had keys to locked, private areas that allowed us to see rare sights such as the last standing parts of the wall surrounding the Jewish ghetto during the Nazi occupation. Without Timea's guidance and access, we would have missed many of the most fascinating sights in the Jewish Quarter. I highly recommend making the walking tour a part of your Budapest experience.

EXCELLENT GUIDE! My husband and I went on a private Jewish walking tour with Timi Tarjani. She is an excellent, extremely knowledgeable guide and a pleasure to be with. Her knowledge of Jewish Budapest, past and present, is extensive and she speaks with both intellectual insight as well as informed personal family history making the tour both informative and emotionally evocative. She goes at a perfect pace, efficient but relaxed, and gave us time to stop for Hungarian pastries, later sending us the receipe! Timi has a breadth of knowledge beyond Jewish Budapest- she also teaches literature- and I felt like I wanted to take her everywhere we went in Budapest to benefit from her wealth of information and insight into the past and current political and social scene. She is extremely flexible and responded graciously and efficiently to our informing her we would need an abridged tour because of a change in our plans. She piled as much in as possible, although there was clearly so much more we could have experienced. Timi is involved in current Jewish human Rights work and an activist working to preserve the history of the substantial presence of Jews in prewar Budapest and acknowledge the responsibility of the Hungarian citizens in their extermination. She is passionate about her work and her tour is all the better from this. Timi is comfortable and fun to be around, non-intrusive and not unnecessarily chatty. A perfect guide and we look forward to getting her more complete tour when we return to Budapest.
