1. Depois de uma curta viagem de Amsterdã até a região das flores nas proximidades de Lisse, iniciaremos a excursão fazendo um passeio cênico pelos arredores. Dependendo da estação, você verá uma paisagem com tapetes de flores coloridas em praticamente qualquer cor que possa imaginar. Tentaremos encontrar um local onde possamos parar para tirar algumas fotos.
2. Depois, seguiremos para o verdadeiro destaque desta excursão, o parque Keukenhof. Outrora uma mera horta repleta de vegetais e ervas, o Keukenhof - localizado no meio da região de tulipas do sul da Holanda - agora tem a distinção de ser o maior jardim de flores do mundo, recebendo cerca de 800.000 visitantes por ano. Esta excursão guiada vai levá-lo pelos 15 quilômetros de trilhas e 32 hectares de jardins, onde milhões de bulbos são plantados a cada ano. Tulipas, jacintos, narcisos e outras flores de primavera de uma variedade de cores vibrantes forram os jardins. Passeie pelo jardim paisagístico inglês, pelo jardim rural japonês e pelo jardim histórico. Aprecie a escultura de flores, com base em um tema anual.

A vila do moinho de vento de Zaanse Schans é um museu ao ar livre que abriga uma coleção de moinhos de vento de trabalho, casas de madeira, celeiros e lojas que remontam aos séculos XVIII e XIX. Todas essas construções foram trazidas para cá em 1961, trazendo de volta à vida o mais próspero período da região de Zaan.

Great visit to Keukendof Gardens, the tulips, orchids and the variation of flowers were all worth the trip. It was absolutely beautiful. As for the Zaanse Schans Windmill Village, it was okay but I would skip it in favor of something else.

As for the two locations visited, they were well worth the time and money. The tour operator is where things fell apart. The gardens are 45 minutes from the departure point. In Amsterdam, with a slight delay in departure time we arrived at the park around 10:15 and had a departure time of 2:30. This gave us ample time to visit the park completely and at our leasure. At 2:30 we returned to the departure point to collect guests that were only visiting Zaanse Schans Village. Therefore another 45 minutes or so to return with traffic and then another 30 minutes to get to the village. With delays we arrived at the village shortly after 4 to be told that the windmill visits were closing at 4:30. Then around 5 the shops in the village started to close for the day and by 6 pm the village was shut down. Therefore the visit to the village was both rushed and caiotic. My suggestion would be to start the tour earlier in the morning and go to the village directly from the gardens. Its à 45 minute ride between the two, saving at least 30 mints of bus time. I had the distinct feeling that the company was more interested in filling buses than the visitors experience.

Keukenhof is gorgeous and the time allowed to see all of it. Zaanse Schans is super cute and gives you a great overview of Dutch culture with the cheese, shoe making, and windmills. Its great that it is still a town where people live and work.

Fantastic visit to the gardens. No one should miss it. Zaanse Schans Windmill Village was too commercial. Never saw what windmills are used for. Can buy the cheese and clogs anywhere in Amsterdam. Didn't know they were going to drop us off at A'dam Tower and leave us there to figure out how to get back on our own.

The gardens where beautiful with every kind of tulip you could imagine. The gardens are extensive and require lots of walking. Our guide had lots of information but was so soft speaking we could not hear him outdoors. My friend and I both use canes and asked our guide to slow down a little so we could keep up but that didn't happen. Also the description of the tour said both pick up and return to the hotel was part of the trip, but we were delivered to the head quarters and told to take the free ferry to the central station to get back to our hotel. We were not happy. This is a full day trip and pretty exhausting. The flowers and the windmills were worth the trip but it would have oh so much better with a guide you could hear and keep up with as well as returned to the hotel where pick up had happened.
